Out-of-competition injuries suffered while pursuing extreme sports generally aren't the norm for 52-year-old PGA Tour players.
But Davis Love III will find himself out of action for the next three months after breaking his right collarbone in three places this week while snowboarding, of all things.
Love's manager Mac Barnhardt told Golf Channel his client was injured while on vacation with his son Dru — a senior on Alabama's golf team — in Sun Valley, Idaho.
“Davis said, ‘I committed the cardinal sin of following Dru down the mountain,’” Barnhardt told the network.
Love had surgery Thursday in Birmingham, Ala.
