NEW YORK — David Ortiz's Friday night started with a blast and ended with him blowing up.
Having been held scoreless since his two-run homer in the first inning, the Red Sox needed Ortiz to deliver when he came up with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning. With a 3-1 count, the slugger thought he had done just that, tying the game with a walk. Instead, umpire Ron Kulpa called Strike 2.
