ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — The Old Course was wet on Sunday morning, and so were Ron Levin’s eyes.
Levin has been working the British Open for nearly 25 years, by his estimation, and in that span he has seen a highlight reel of golf, carrying Todd Hamilton’s bag in 2004 when he won in Troon. Still, what Levin witnessed in the third round Sunday was as memorable as any round he had seen up close.
His eyes welled up as he talked about his prime viewing position for David Duval’s five-under-par 67 in partly sunny, partly rainy conditions.
