Daniel Cormier defeated Derrick Lewis by submission to retain his heavyweight title Saturday night in the main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Cormier got Lewis to tap via rear-naked choke at 2:14 of the second round.
Cormier (22-1, 1 NC), who entered the fight as a big favorite, was making his first defense of the heavyweight belt he won by knocking out Stipe Miocic in the first round at UFC 226 in July.
He also is the UFC light heavyweight champion but will be stripped of that belt when Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson fight for the 205-pound title at UFC 232 on Dec.
