Michael Annett is leaving Sprint Cup and will instead drive full time in the Xfinity Series next season for Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s team.
Annett is part of an expansion plan for JR Motorsports, which holds affiliation with Hendrick Motorsports. Earnhardt is a full-time Hendrick driver.
Annett, 30, is completing a second full season with HScott Motorsports. That operation had two teams in 2016, with Clint Bowyer making a one-year stop before transitioning to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2017. Bowyer will replace Tony Stewart, who is retiring from Cup competition.
Earnhardt's team will send out four, and sometimes five cars next season.
