Alex Bowman turned in a top performance in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. And as Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out, he did so under adverse conditions.
Bowman was driving in relief of Earnhardt, who is sidelined for the remainder of the season as he continues his recovery from concussion-like symptoms. This weekend, Bowman was battling a stomach virus before and during the race, with Earnhardt tweeting out a photo of Bowman taking fluids in the infield care center after the race.
Despite that, Bowman overcame setbacks in the race and rallied for a seventh-place finish.
