PHOENIX — The Diamondbacks wrapped up the 2017 MLB Draft on Wednesday with 30 more selections, giving them 41 total picks for the three days.
The positional breakdown was: 17 pitchers (15 right-handed, two left-handed), 12 infielders, seven outfielders and five catchers. Thirty-one of the draftees were from college programs, and 10 were out of high school.
Their third-day selections included right-handed pitcher Boyd Vander Kooi of Skyline High School in Mesa in the 36th round. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Vander Kooi was the Gatorade Arizona Palyer of the Year after going 6-1 with a 1.49 ERA as a pitcher and hitting .
