On Friday, the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates pushed each other to 12 innings (even though the Cubs were up 7-1 heading into the sixth) and it looked like the game might go on longer. That is, until Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco slipped en route to catching a seemingly routine pop fly with Chicago’s bases loaded. Translation: Cubs win, 11-10.
However, the best, most hilarious part of this play might be this: even though Polanco is eons away from actually catching this ball, he still reaches upward in some sort of last-ditch effort.
That’s determination, right there.
