CHICAGO — The statues around Wrigley Field tell the story of Cubs baseball.
There’s one of Harry Caray, holding out his microphone at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield, and you can almost hear him singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" as he leans out of the press box. Billy Williams and Ron Santo, two Hall of Famers, have their statues on the corner of Sheffield and Addison.
Ernie Banks, the greatest Cub of them all, has his statue near the corner of Clark and Addison. I only talked with Banks a couple times in phone interviews, but they were probably my favorite interviews of all time.
