The unlikeliest of NHL underdog stories is the inspiration behind one Cubs fan's newly launched campaign to get David Ross, the 39-year-old journeyman catcher and all-around MLB nice guy, into this summer's All-Star Game.
Hockey fans know the tale: John Scott, with five goals and 544 penalty minutes for his career, was the beneficiary of an online fan movement to be voted a captain in the NHL's version of the Midsummer Classic. He went on to be named the game's MVP despite considerable league pushback and now even has a movie deal.

Brian Dunigan, a lifelong Cubs fan and self-proclaimed "regular guy," caught wind, and he'd like to see something similar happen to Ross, who plans to retire after the 2016 season following a 15-year career.
