By the second batter of the game, the Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta had enough runs to work with as he dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates over a full nine innings in the National League’s wild-card game Wednesday. The Cubs went on to win, 4-0.
Dexter Fowler got things started quickly for the Cubs, leading off the game with a single off Pirates starter Gerrit Cole. Fowler stole second base and scored on a single by Kyle Schwarber, putting the game out of reach before Arrieta took the mound.
