The Mavericks wound up having a much different offseason than many thought they would. Expectations were that they would land one of Hassan Whiteside and Mike Conley, and retain Chandler Parsons. The "Plan B" was thought to involve Dwight Howard.
Instead, Conley stayed in Memphis andWhiteside in Miami, Howard went to Atlanta, and Parsons, shockingly, joined Conley on the Grizzlies.
The Mavericks eventually took full advantage of the fallout of Kevin Durant joining the Warriors, extending a max offer to Harrison Barnes (which of course the Warriors elected not to match in restricted free agency) and then trading for Andrew Bogut.
