Conley and ‘First Team All-Defense’ Lead Grizzlies Past Golden State

Game 2 of the Warriors-Grizzlies series was one to remember. A newly masked Mike Conley had a huge performance coming back from surgery for Memphis. Stephen Curry struggled on the night he was presented with the Most Valuable Player Award. And visiting Memphis comprehensively defeated mighty Golden State, 97-90, in an arena in which the Warriors almost never lose.

But the most memorable moment on Tuesday night might have been one caught by on-court microphones, when Memphis small forward Tony Allen was heard emphatically repeating what may become the new N.B.A. catchphrase: “First team all-defense.”

Conley, the Grizzlies’ star point guard, was back after missing three games as a result of an elbow to the face in Game 3 of the first-round series against Portland.
