Hosting any awards show at all seems like a near-thankless task. It's not easy to be funny and cutting at the same time when you're in a room with the subjects of your jokes. That goes double when the subject is as humorless as NFL.
Conan O'Brien may have accomplished that at the NFL Honors ... ceremony, or whatever they like to call it. It wasn't quite Norm MacDonald at the ESPY's, but it was good enough. Look at all those pained, fake smiles — and also, Rex Ryan. Robert Kraft actually hasn't moved from his seat. More than 12 hours later, and he's just sitting there, gritting his teeth hard enough to crack them.
