Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Miami Open after being stricken by a stomach virus.
Tournament organizers announced the 17-time Grand Slam champion departed ahead of Friday's second-round match against Juan Martin del Potro.

Federer, 34, had been due to make his return in Miami after knee surgery. He revealed this week that he tore a meniscus shortly after the Australian Open while preparing a bath for his twin daughters.
