The Indianapolis Colts claimed running back Dan Herron off waivers Thursday and released Zurlon Tipton to make room for Boom in the backfield.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news on Indianapolis' transactions, and Colts.com's Kevin Bowen confirmed in a more extensive report thereafter. The Buffalo Bills released Herron on Wednesday, and he didn't have to wait long for a chance to continue playing.
This is Herron's second stint with the Colts, who have shown a penchant for bringing back former ball-carriers in 2015. They signed Ahmad Bradshaw for a third time in October and now have another back with a feel for the system.
