INDIANAPOLIS — It could be said Andrew Luck has been sacked so many times as a professional quarterback he’s lost count. Except this is the NFL, in which every move every player makes is so closely monitored no one ever loses count of anything. The running total is always available: currently 115, or once for every 18 passes he has thrown.
Is that a lot? It’s enough. It’s nearly twice as often as Peyton Manning (once for every 31 passes), far less than Drew Brees (24) or Eli Manning (20). It’s enough that Luck wound up missing all but seven games of the Indianapolis Colts’ 2015 season, which helped lead to them finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs for the first time in his career.
