College hockey referee Butch Mousseaux dies after on-ice head injury

One week after his traumatic brain injury, Western Collegiate Hockey Association referee Oliver "Butch" Mousseaux has died.

A note announcing Mousseaux's death was posted Friday on a Facebook page dedicated to supporting his recovery.

Mousseaux, 48, had been in a medically induced coma since last week. His injury came after Mousseaux tripped and fell on the ice during warmups for the WCHA semifinal game between Fresno State and Michigan Tech. The game was played at Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mossoueaux was treated at a hospital in that city.
