Clint Dempsey returns to training after irregular heartbeat scare

Clint Dempsey returned to training Wednesday for the Seattle Sounders after battling through an irregular heartbeat issue.

The U.S. men's national team's prolific goal scorer had been out since the end of August following the discovery of the issue. He was forced to miss the USMNT's last two World Cup qualifying wins.

"He has had a procedure to address some of the issues [of his irregular heartbeat]," Sounder general manager Garth Lagerwey said.
