Cincinnati may be nearing an agreement with its next head coach: Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell.
Fickell and the Bearcats are currently in contract negotiations, though it's uncertain when the deal will be complete, according to BearcatReport.com.
Former Bearcats coach Tommy Tuberville resigned from Cincinnati on Monday after coaching his team to a 29-22 record in four seasons. Now that former Texas coach Charlie Strong has been linked to the South Florida job, Fickell was elevated to the program's top target.
Fickell has served as defensive coordinator at Ohio State since 2002, bridging the gab between former Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel and current coach Urban Meyer.
