Chivas winger Carlos Cisneros will miss the start of the season because of tibial periostitis, also known as shin splints, that are causing discomfort.
The Guadalajara side hosts Pumas on Saturday to kick off the Liga MX Clausura, but Cisneros won't be able to play and could miss more matches in the future because of the injury.
“It’s periostitis, which is an inflammation of the periosteum, which has advanced a lot," a Chivas medical staff member told reporters. "He’d shown a stress fracture in his left tibia, which was being monitored and already is healed. In addition to the rehab therapy, he’s going on the field to do progressive work with an eye toward being with the group soon.
