Cheers for Adam Silver, a commissioner with a conscience

Cheer for NBA commissioner Adam Silver. No matter what you think politically, give the guy a hand. He showed the kind of gumption that many (guilty here) did not think he would ever be willing to exercise, by acting on his conscience. That’s noteworthy, considering the four-man universe of major-sport American commissioners is mostly occupied by hypocrites, blithering idiots and dimwitted lackeys. Silver did what he thought was right, which was no easy task in this case.

Silver stood behind the words espoused by the league office for much of the 2000s, finally going beyond a threat to move the All-Star Game out of Charlotte and officially announcing Thursday the change would take place, with Charlotte possibly getting the game in 2019.
