Chase Elliott's crash with Joey Logano could have playoff implications

Joey Logano wanted the win. Chase Elliott needed a good finish.

Neither plan panned out on Monday in the rain-delayed Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Joey Logano was racing three-wide in the middle of Denny Hamlin and Ryan Newman late in the race. As Hamlin cleared the outside pair, Chase Elliott followed Hamlin through in the low line. Newman dropped low and behind Elliott, who then got loose and slid up into Logano.

Elliott immediately took his car to the garage for repairs. The rookie replaced Jeff Gordon in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 entry this season.
