Charles Barkley, Auburn's greatest professional sports alumnus, tends to live in Bo Jackson's shadow at his alma mater.

His statue shouldn't have that risk.

Barkley, the Basketball Hall of Famer, is getting a statue on campus, right outside Auburn Arena. The announcement was made, fittingly, during the Tigers' football game against Arkansas.

Barkley averaged 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game over three years at Auburn before being drafted No. 5 overall in 1984. (Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan went ahead of him, but so did Sam Bowie and Sam Perkins.
