The Chargers released new images yesterday of a new $1.8 billion stadium proposed for downtown San Diego. The NFL team will share the plan today with San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, and to the public on Saturday when it starts a petition drive for the Nov. 8 election.
The renderings display a 61,500-seat facility that would be among the smallest NFL venues on a tight site in the heart of the city. The site is just east of Petco Park, home of the Padres.

The new stadium would include a retractable roof, new convention center space and a rooftop "sky garden" featuring cabana-style meeting rooms, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
