With just over a month until the Olympics, Australian swimmer Cate Campbell sent a message to the rest of the world that she will be the one to beat in Rio in the 100-meter freestyle.
Campbell broke the 100-meter freestyle world record during finals of the Australian Grand Prix Saturday, finishing in a time of 52.06. The swim bested Germany’s Britta Steffen's 2009 world record by .01 and was over a second faster than the winning time at U.S. Olympic trials in the event under just 12 hours earlier in Omaha, Neb. (Abbey Weitzeil, 53.28).

The previous world record held by Steffen was swam in the now-banned whole-body polyurethane swimsuits at the 2009 World Championships, a testament to how impressive Campbell's swim on Saturday was.
