Cars of Martin Truex Jr., Jimmie Johnson fail post-race inspection at Chicagoland

Martin Truex Jr. won Sunday's race at Chicagoland Speedway, but failed postrace inspection.

According to multiple reports, though, his car did not fall enough outside of the specifications to be ruled an "encumbered" victory under NASCAR's new rules. Therefore, Truex's win will advance him to the Round of 12 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

The cars of both Truex and Jimmie Johnson reportedly failed the postrace inspection process. Truex won Sunday's race, the first of the Chase, with a late-race pass of Chase Elliott. Johnson finished 12th.
