Cardinals make first MLB Draft pick: CF Scott Hurst

ST. LOUIS — After sitting out day one of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cardinals finally got in on the action and made eight selections on the second day of the draft.

The Cardinals nabbed center fielder Scott Hurst of Cal State Fullerton with their first pick in the third round. Hurst, a left-handed-hitting junior, is batting a team-leading .332 with 12 home runs, five triples, 15 doubles and 39 RBI in 61 games for the Titans. Hurst leads the Big West Conference in runs scored (54) and total bases (141), ranks second in home runs, and third in slugging percentage (.
