Canelo Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 KOs) will make his return to the 154-pound division to take on WBO super welterweight champion Liam Smith (23-0-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
It will be Alvarez's first fight back at 154 pounds since he decimated James Kirkland in Minute Maid Park in Houston in May 2015. Alvarez's last two fights were at middleweight for the WBC belt, but both were fought at catchweights below the 160-pound limit.
