Canada Soccer to appeal FIFA Olympics point deduction

The “Dronegate” scandal that has hit the Olympics has taken its latest twist, with Canada now appealing FIFA’s decision to dock their women’s side six points at the group stage.

The Association are not appealing the decision to ban coach Bev Priestman from the sport for a year, which came after she was suspended and sent home from the games, nor the suspension of CSA officials Joseph Lombardi and Jasmine Mander or the £175,720 fine.

Canadian Sports reporter Ben Steiner has said a hearing with the parties is likely to take place on Tuesday July 30th, with a decision to come the following day.
