CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cam Newton says he's put Super Bowl 50 behind him. But the Panthers quarterback did admit Thursday that February's loss to the Broncos still stings.

"We do not need it, but we all are playing with a chip on our shoulder," Newton said as the Panthers broke minicamp. "That's our mentality."

Newton has been busy off the field this offseason, with his Nickelodeon show, his celebrity kickball tournament and other events for his foundation. While Newton said those things are fun, he repeatedly said his focus now is entirely on football.

"There's life outside of football, but when football is on, there's nothing else that can distract me," Newton said, adding that his focus won't change in the six weeks between the end of minicamp and the start of training camp.
