It took until the third week of spring training, but Bryce Harper finally got his record contract. The Philadelphia Phillies won the Harper sweepstakes on Thursday, agreeing on a 13-year, $330 million contract, the richest deal in major league history.
The deal for Harper, 26, eclipsed the 13-year, $325 million contract Giancarlo Stanton signed in 2014 with the Miami Marlins, who traded him to the Yankees three years later. The deal was confirmed by a person with direct knowledge of it who was granted anonymity because the Phillies had not yet announced it.
