Two pieces from the trade which sent Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers to the Houston Astros have been called up by the Milwaukee Brewers.
Left-hander Josh Hader, who is set to make his major-league debut, and outfielder Brett Phillips were summoned by the Brewers on Friday from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room for the pair, pitcher Paolo Espino, who started Thursday’s game vs. San Francisco, was sent to the Sky Sox while third baseman Travis Shaw was placed on the family medical emergency list.
Hader had dominated in Double-A with the Brewers in 2015, after coming over from the Astros organization, and in 2016, but he has posted inflated ERA since being moved to Colorado Springs last year.
