Off to one of the worst starts in their history, the Atlanta Braves have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez, a source tells ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.
The Braves dropped to an MLB-worst 9-28 after an 8-5 defeat to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night. The Braves haven't won consecutive games over a 5-19 span during which they've averaged 2.7 runs and hit eight home runs, a quarter of which came Monday. Four MLB players have more homers this season than the Braves team, which has 11 total.
Brian Snitker, manager of Atlanta's Triple-A Gwinnett farm club, will replaced Gonzalez as Braves' interim manager through the end of the season, the source confirmed to ESPN.
