David Cone warned us all about this, and he was right.
On Tuesday night, the former pitcher was in the booth for the YES Network, calling the Yankees-Blue Jays game, when Dellin Betances appeared to strike out Edwin Encarnacion in the ninth inning. Umpire Mark Wegner, however, called it a dropped foul tip as Encarnacion's swing tapped catcher Gary Sanchez's glove, knocking the glove closed and preventing him from catching it.
"It could be easily seen, if it were a challengeable call," Cone said.
The Blue Jays pleaded for a catcher's interference call, to no avail.
