Billy Eppler, the assistant general manager of the Yankees, has been named general manager of the Los Angeles Angels, the team announced Sunday night.
Eppler, 40, who signed a four-year contract, had been with the Yankees for 11 seasons, having previously served as director of pro scouting and director of pro personnel.
He replaces Jerry Dipoto, who resigned July 1 after a series of disagreements with Angels Manager Mike Scioscia and is now the Seattle Mariners’ general manager. The Angels were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday when they lost to the Texas Rangers.
