The legendary career of Bernard Hopkins comes to a close on Saturday night when he fights Joe Smith in a 12-round light heavyweight bout (HBO, 10 p.m. ET/PT) from The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) hasn't fought in 25 months when he lost the undisputed light heavyweight title to Sergey Kovalev. But the 51-year-old is a former undisputed middleweight champion, a three-time light heavyweight titleholder and set the record for the most consecutive middleweight title defenses (200 and was the oldest boxer to win a world title at 46 and then at 48.
Smith (22-1,18 KOs) is a 27-year-old union laborer from Mastic, New York coming off the biggest win of his career when he upset Andrzej Fonfara in June, scoring a first-round knockout.
