The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus, team sources confirmed Friday, making him the franchise’s fourth coach to be let go in the past 11 seasons. Offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will serve as the interim head coach, the sources said.
Eberflus’ firing comes one day after the Bears dropped to 4-8 this season following a three-point loss to the Detroit Lions in which Eberflus was widely criticized for his clock management.
The 54-year-old coach departs with a 14-32 record in less than three full seasons in Chicago.
