Bears coach Ben Johnson wrote touching poem in honor of Brian Piccolo

The Chicago Bears honored linebacker T.J. Edwards and wide receiver Rome Odunze as their latest Brian Piccolo Award recipients during a ceremony Tuesday at Halas Hall.

Every year, the Bears select a veteran and a rookie that best exemplify courage, loyalty, teammate, dedication and a sense of humor to honor the late Bears running back. Edwards won it for the second straight year while Odunze was the rookie winner.

New Bears head coach Ben Johnson presented Edwards and Odunze with their awards, and he also had a touching surprise up his sleeve. Johnson wrote a poem titled "More than a Jersey," which was dedicated to Piccolo and celebrated his life beyond the football player, which he read at the ceremony.
