Lionel Messi deserves to retire from international football as a champion, says Argentina head coach Edgardo Bauza.
The superstar forward has enjoyed a glittering career with Barcelona, winning eight La Liga titles, four Copas del Rey and the Champions League four times.
Messi has also been recognized as the world's best player on five occasions, but success on the international stage has continued to elude him.
Argentina was beaten in the 2014 World Cup final, while it also suffered heartbreaks in the finals of the 2015 and 2016 Copa Americas, the latter of which saw Messi announce his retirement from international football — a decision he swiftly reversed.
