Atlanta to sign Vince Carter, 41, for 21st season

The NBA's oldest player -- free agent forward Vince Carter -- has agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told ESPN.

Carter, 41, will be starting his 21st season in an NBA career where he has scored 24,868 points.

Atlanta general manager Travis Schlenk wanted Carter's influence around a young, rebuilding roster. Atlanta drafted three players, including guard Trae Young, in the first-round of the 2018 NBA draft and 2017 first-round pick John Collins is a key part of the franchise's future. Carter was drafted on June 24, 1998, nearly three months before Young was born -- on Sept.
