CHICAGO — The Atlanta Hawks received the No. 1 pick for the first time in franchise history after entering the lottery with a 3% chance. Unlike last year when it was the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes and everyone tuned in to see who would be landing the 7-foot-4 French star, this year is significantly different with no consensus top pick.
There was a bit of drama this year with the lottery when the Hawks and San Antonio Spurs snuck inside the top 4 and the Detroit Pistons fell to No. 5 after having one of the best chances to land the top pick.
