It turned out three days’ rest was plenty for the Houston Astros’ ace, Dallas Keuchel, who dominated the Yankees over six shutout innings Tuesday. The Astros held on to win the American League wild-card game, 3-0.
Running up a high pitch count early in the game did not prove to be a problem for Keuchel, who allowed three hits, walked one and at one point retired 10 consecutive batters.
Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka was mostly solid in five innings for the Yankees, but he was doomed by home runs from Colby Rasmus and Carlos Gomez.
