Let's talk throwback cars. Color schemes being displayed at Darlington this weekend are nice, and it's great to pay homage to drivers who made Cup racing memorable.
But to do throwback right, NASCAR needs to remember not just the men and teams but also the brands that are at the roots of its existence.
Sprint Cup now has three nameplates on the track each week. Fans will see Fords, Chevys and Toyotas at the historic South Carolina speedway.
Too bad there's not way to honor the others — Oldmobile, Buick and Pontiac; Mercury; AMC and Hudson; Plymouth and Dodge.
