In a thrilling finish to the Breeders' Cup Classic, Arrogate powered home to deny favorite California Chrome victory.
California Chrome, the highest-rated horse in the world, was the odds-on favorite in a field of 10 for the $6 million race Saturday, having won six consecutive races.
And the 5-year-old superstar appeared on track to claim the lucrative purse, setting the pace and pulling clear down the stretch at Santa Anita Park in California.
But Arrogate refused to surrender, charging from the outside and powering past California Chrome in jockey Mike Smith's 25th Breeders' Cup win.
