All players on the teams participating in the Belk Bowl are given 90 minutes to spend a $450 gift card at the Charlotte, N.C., department store, but Arkansas tight end Jeremy Sprinkle apparently got a bit carried away.
The school announced hours before Thursday's game against Virginia Tech that Sprinkle had been suspended for the bowl, without specifying the reason.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported the suspension was linked to "an alleged shoplifting incident," while SEC Country cited sources saying Sprinkle tried to take more items than his Belk gift card was worth during a shopping spree at the store Tuesday.
