Arizona State rallies, faces Northwestern in NCAA final

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (AP) Monica Vaughn delivered another big moment for Arizona State, helping the Sun Devils to an unlikely turnaround that sent them to the title match of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship against top-seeded Northwestern.

The Wildcats, the host school at Rich Harvest Farms, put together their own rally on a rain-softened course. They trailed in four matches when play was halted by darkness, and they returned Wednesday morning to beat Southern California, 3-2. Janet Mao made a 12-foot par putt on the 19th hole for the decisive victory.

The Sun Devils, going for an eighth national title, faced Northwestern on Wednesday afternoon.
