The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has denied a request to reconsider arguments made in the NFL's concussion settlement case.
The NFL agreed in August 2013 to pay $1 billion to former players involved in the class-action suit who claimed the league did not inform them of the long-term implications concussions could have, such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). A three-judge panel of the 3rd Circuit unanimously affirmed the settlement in April, but a group of former players requested through its attorneys a rehearing of its appeal of the settlement.
