Anderson Silva to miss UFC 198 bout vs. Uriah Hall after gallbladder surgery

UFC middleweight Anderson Silva is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday morning to remove his gallbladder, forcing him to withdraw from his UFC 198 bout with Uriah Hall, Silva's doctor, Marcio Tannure, told MMA Fighting.

The former champion fell ill Tuesday, only hours before he was to fly from Rio de Janeiro to Curitiba, the site of Saturday's scheduled match.

"He called me and said, ‘I’m going to the hospital, but I’ll get better’, so we came to Curitiba," Silva’s coach, Luiz Carlos Dorea, said, adding Silva had been in pain before but always recovered to continue training.
