LOS ANGELES — Amy Cragg and Galen Rupp won the United States Olympic marathon trials on Saturday in a sweltering midday race in Los Angeles. They were followed by Desiree Linden and Shalane Flanagan in the women’s race and Meb Keflezighi and Jared Ward in the men’s race. The six athletes will represent the United States in the Olympic marathon 25 weeks from now in Rio de Janeiro.
Cragg, 32, and Flanagan, 34, who train together in Portland, Ore., broke from the pack halfway through the race and pulled out a commanding lead most of the way before Cragg pulled away to win in 2 hours 28 minutes 20 seconds.
